The runs that make you tough

It’s not always the runs that you expect. It’s not always the well executed speed session.


It’s the run the day after a speed session. Where everyone starts in a big group, chatting away.

When, the pace starts to slowly creep up. And at the drink stop at half way everyone acknowledges that it’s feeling tough.

But then, the screws continue to turn. The pace keeps getting quicker and everyone is strung out in a long line, the threads between us almost breaking.

When you start to think that you need to stop and jog. Stop when you get to the next bridge. But you don’t stop. You keep up the pace, and finish the run strong.

That it was makes you tough.
